After meeting the team from Landpod at last year’s Glamping Show, the Youth Hostel Association (YHA) knew instantly that these unique pods would be a perfect fit for their hostels around the UK.

As the trend for embracing the great outdoors continues, Landpod has been contracted by the YHA to supply their glamping pods into youth hostel sites across the country.  So far, the team has installed their glamping pods at four Youth Hostel sites across the country, with two more to go, as YHA (England and Wales) brings a new alternative to their hostel, camping and cabins options on site in time for the summer season.

The Landpod designs come with unique patented all terrain legs which eliminate the requirement of foundations making them not only a cost-efficient option but has also helped further open up outdoor spaces on YHA sites.

The pods have landed at YHA sites in Cornwall, Brecon Beacons, Surrey Hills and Hampshire with the Peak District and Lake District next on the list.   Positioned in wild locations next to streams, metres from beaches and in woodlands, these pods give visitors the opportunity to get close to nature; enjoying sunsets and stars in comfort.

The all-terrain pods have been developed by Landpod’s father and son team, Steve and Jacob Watson, to make sleeping outside more accessible for everyone.

Jacob Watson, Landpod Co-Founder and pod designer said: “We’re passionate about transforming people’s experience of how they can enjoy the great outdoors, that’s how the idea for Landpod originally came about.  When we met YHA at The Glamping Show in 2017 there was an instant connection between our brand values and their mission to find a new pod offering with the freedom to install them anywhere they wanted.”

Jacob continued: “The whole Landpod team are really excited to be working with YHA and the locations are breathtaking – by far the most unique and picturesque Landpod pitches so far!”

Each YHA site has two of Landpod’s Pod Father designs, which can sleep up to 4 adults. Each LandPod has a thermal insulated cover designed to retain heat on cold nights and stay cool on hot days. This cover can also flip up to open up the entire side of the pod.

Anna Williams, Head of Projects & Investments for YHA (England and Wales) said: “We are delighted to bring the Landpod to YHA’s sites. It’s a fantastic product and one that we know will prove popular with guests. As a leading youth charity, YHA’s mission is to transform young lives by travel, adventure and discovery in the great outdoors – and the Landpod fits the bill perfectly. We know they’ll be an instant hit.”
