Blackdown Shepherd Huts creates Stargazing Hut with unique glass roof window.

Blackdown Shepherd Huts, based in Somerset, which makes luxury outdoor living solutions in the form of shepherd huts, has launched its unique new Stargazing Hut.

Will Vickery, who runs the hand-crafted shepherd huts business, has created the brand new hut for 2017 with his workshop team, which features a glass roof above the signature pull-down wall bed.  The idea came about from working with Bryony at StarbedHideaways, who wanted to add the glass roof to create two romantic retreat huts at her accommodation in the historic estate of Buckland Abbey on the western fringes of Dartmoor National Park.

Will explains: ‘We always like to move forward with designs and see what else we can create that will add individuality to our huts for our customers.  The uniquely designed stargazing roof window that we worked on with StarbedHideaways is in a curved shape to sit within the traditional shepherd hut roof and we’ve applied this to our new Stargazing Hut. The roof window adds more natural light to the hut and we’ve had a specially designed blind to cover it if you’re not keen on being woken too early!’

Bryony Hancock, who runs StarbedHideaways says her glass roof huts have been a real hit with guests. ‘Those who stay in our luxury huts with the stargazing roof say that it really adds to the experience of glamping. It becomes an even more magical experience to look at the stars, and we’re all about creating a romantic, unique, and quirky weekend break. The huts created with Blackdown offer extravagant five-star comfort and stellar views of dark night skies.’

The Stargazing Hut was a recent success at the Badminton Horse Trials where Blackdown had it on display to the public for the first time. Will says: ‘The addition of the Stargazing Hut gives another option to customers who want a little bit extra, maybe as a glamping honeymoon suite or simply as a relaxing garden retreat.’

The shepherd huts created by Blackdown are bought by customers in the UK and abroad for both commercial and residential purposes. Will concludes: ‘We look forward to taking orders for the Stargazing hut through 2017 and creating our them for both our commercial and residential customers.’
